ʿArafāt is a desert at south-east of Mecca, 21 kilometers from Mecca-Ta'if road. It is said that Aadam (a) and Hawwa (a) met there for the first time. In the north of this desert, stands Jabal al-Rahma or Jabala al-'Arafat.
