Ziyara-text of Imam al-Hasan al-Mujtaba (a) is considered among virtuous acts, and there is a specific ziyara-text for him that pilgrims recite when visiting the tomb of Imam al-Hasan al-Mujtaba (a), the second Imam of the Shia.
Two ziyara-texts for visiting Imam al-Hasan (a) are narrated in the book Kamil al-ziyarat, one of the ancient sources of supplications and ziyara-texts. One of these ziyara-texts is from the words of Muhammad b. al-Hanafiyyah and the other from Imam al-Baqir (a) or Imam al-Sadiq (a). The ziyara of Imam al-Hasan can be performed on all days, and according to al-Allamah al-Majlisi, it is better to visit the Imam on the days of his birth, caliphate, martyrdom, the Day of Mubahala, and the 25th of Dhu al-Hijjah.
Imam al-Hasan al-Mujtaba (a)
Imam al-Hasan al-Mujtaba (a) (3/625 - 50/570), son of Ali b. Abi Talib (a) and Lady Fatima (s),[1] is the second Imam of the Shi'as[2] and the fifth caliph of Muslims. He is considered the most similar person to the Prophet Muhammad (s)[3] and a devout and ascetic individual.[4] He gave away all or half of his wealth several times as charity.[5] He performed hajj on foot many times.[6] After his martyrdom, his body was buried in the al-Baqi' cemetery next to Fatima bt. Asad.[7] This is the place where later Imam al-Sajjad (a), Imam al-Baqir (a), and Imam al-Sadiq (a) were also buried.[8]
It is narrated that Imam al-Husayn (a) used to visit the tomb of Imam al-Hasan (a) every Friday.[9] Imam al-Sadiq (a) in a narration stated that angels visit the tombs of the Imams (a), including the tomb of Imam al-Hasan (a).[10] Narrations from the Prophet (s) and the Imams (a) recommending the Ziyara of Imam al-Hasan (a) are found in sources; for example, the Prophet (s) in narrations considered the Ziyara of Imam al-Hasan (a) a means of salvation on the Day of Judgment and reaching Paradise.[11]
Time
Al-Allamah al-Majlisi in his book Tuhfat al-za'ir mentioned the recommended times for the ziyara of Imam al-Hasan (a) as follows:[12]
- The birthday of Imam al-Hasan al-Mujtaba (a) on 15th of Ramadan
- The day of Imam's martyrdom on the 7th or 28th of Safar
- The day a spear struck his thigh on 23rd of Rajab
- The Day of Mubahala on 24th of Dhu al-Hijjah
- The day of the revelation of Surah al-Insan, 25th of Dhu al-Hijja;[13] the eighth verse of this surah, known as al-It'am Verse, was revealed in honor of Ali (a), Fatima (s), al-Hasan (a), and al-Husayn (a).[14]
- The day of the Imam's caliphate, coinciding with the day of Imam Ali's (a) martyrdom
Sources of Ziyara-nama
Two ziyara-texts for visiting Imam al-Hasan (a) are narrated in the book Kamil al-ziyarat, one of the ancient sources of supplications and ziyara-texts. One of these ziyara-texts is from the words of Muhammad b. al-Hanafiyyah and the other from Imam al-Baqir (a) or Imam al-Sadiq (a).[15]
Also, according to Shia scholars, the best ziyara-text for visiting the Shia Imams are Ziyara al-Jami'a al-Kabira and Ziyara Amin Allah.[16] Al-Allamah al-Majlisi, based on a narration from Imam al-Sadiq (a), believes that the Imam can be visited with any wording.[17]
Muhammad b. al-Hanafiyyah and the Ziyara of Imam al-Hasan (a)
It is narrated that Muhammad b. al-Hanafiyyah recited the following phrases when visiting the tomb of Imam al-Hasan (a)[18] which include greetings to Imam al-Hasan al-Mujtaba (a) with titles such as "son of the Commander of the Faithful", "remainder of the believers", and "fifth of the Ahl al-Kisa", emphasizing his lineage, his upbringing in the lap of Islam, and Imam Hasan's faith. At the end, expressing sorrow for his separation, he also sends greetings to his brother Imam al-Husayn (a).
Peace be upon you, O son of the Commander of the Faithful [O remainder of the believers], and son of the first of the Muslims,
And how could you not be so, while you are the offspring of guidance, the ally of piety, and the fifth of the People of the Cloak,
The hand of mercy nourished you, and you were raised in the lap of Islam, and you suckled from the breast of faith,
So blessed are you in life and in death, yet the soul is not pleased [souls are not good] with your separation, nor is there any doubt in your life. May God have mercy on you.
Then he turned to Imam Husayn (a) and said: O Aba Abd Allah al-Husayn, peace be upon Abu Muhammad.
Peace be upon you, O son of the Commander of the Faithful [O remainder of the believers], and son of the first of the Muslims,
Peace be upon you, O son of the Commander of the Faithful [O remainder of the believers], and son of the first of the Muslims,

Ziyara-Text of Imam al-Hasan (a) from the Imams (a)
Ibn Qulawayh also narrated another ziyara-text from one of the Imams for visiting Imam al-Hasan (a).[19] This ziyara-text begins by glorifying the lineage of Imam al-Hasan al-Mujtaba (a) as the son of Prophet Muhammad (s), Imam Ali (a), and Lady Fatima (s). Then it enumerates his status as God's proof, divine light, the straight path, and the Lord's trustee, embodying God's will on earth. It further outlines his moral virtues, including purity, piety, justice, and knowledge of the Quran.

Another Ziyara-Text
Al-Shaykh al-Mufid in al-Muqni'a, in the etiquette of visiting Imam al-Hasan (a), after recommending ghusl and wearing clean clothes, narrates the following phrases for visiting Imam al-Hasan (a) while standing before his tomb:[20]

Peace be upon you, O son of the Messenger of God. Peace be upon you, O remnant of the believers and son of the first of the Muslims. I bear witness that you are the path of guidance, the ally of piety, and the fifth of the People of the Cloak. The hand of mercy nourished you, you were raised in the lap of Islam, and you suckled from the breast of faith; thus you were pure in life and in death—may God’s blessings be upon you. I bear witness that you fulfilled your duty truthfully and proceeded with certainty; you did not prefer blindness over guidance, nor incline from truth toward falsehood. May God curse whoever wronged you; may God curse whoever forsook you; may God curse whoever killed you. I declare my disavowal before God from them.

Farewell to the Tomb
After that, one performs two rak'as of prayer and at the time of farewell, stands before the tomb and says:
