Shiʿb b. Abī Tālib (شعب أبي طالب) or Shiʿb ʿAlī (شعب علي) is the place where the polytheists of Mecca besieged the Prophet (s) and his clan, Banu Hashim, and Muslims for three years and forbade any transaction or visit with them. This valley slopes down to the Mount Abu Qubais where the Mecca library stands now beside al-Masjid al-Haraam.
